One of the driving goals of Manufacturing Day has always been to inspire our future manufacturers and to give those young people a glimpse of what a fulfilling career modern manufacturing can provide. After they have toured a facility, or participated in a Manufacturing Day event, many students may go on to seek training and higher education through community colleges or trade schools. One organization that works to provide opportunities like this, and also provides scholarships for students pursuing manufacturing careers, is the Nuts, Bolts & Thinagmajigs foundation.
NBT, the foundation of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International, has been providing scholarships for students training or studying for careers in the manufacturing industry since 1990. Each year they receive ten times more applications then they have scholarships to give -and they are trying to raise another $10,000 for these aspiring manufacturers from now through the end of 2015. As of today, #GivingTuesday, they have raised 6% of their goal.
